Our forest has come to life with the children going on adventures with colourful characters from our favourite books. At the beginning of the week, we had a visit from a gang of crayons who were up in arms about their predicament of not being able to take part in colourful activities. So, our little adventurers decided to ask for their help in making the forest look like a rainbow fell from the sky and splashed its magnificent colours all over the forest.
The next day, the dinosaurs appeared and set a challenge for us with a very tricky-looking obstacle course where we really had to put our climbing skills to the test. Everyone joined in and had a go. We climbed up and down undulating platforms, very tall towers and jumped from different heights.
Then the following day, we were whisked away on a sailboat; we crossed an ocean for many days and many nights until we reached the island where all the Wild Things lived. Once we reached the island, we transformed into Wild Things. Some of us were scary and blue, some were silly with macaroni shaped hair, and some of us looked graceful and colourful. We did all sorts of cheeky things we weren’t allowed to do inside the house like climb trees, roar at the top of our lungs, march across the forest with muddy boots. But after a while we needed to go back to Little Forest Folk, and we sailed back across the ocean for many days and nights whilst singing an old pirate song The Day I Went to Sea.
We are also happy to have Kaitlyn join us in the forest. She is so helpful to everyone and we enjoyed reading lots of stories with her under the golden plane tree and chasing her around the forest when we were playing a dinosaur game. She helped us transform into Wild Things by helping us decide on funny designs for our masks and we loved how she kept an eye on us to make sure we had everything we needed to make our day amazing in the forest!
We hope everyone has a lovely, restful weekend!
