Twickenham - Celebrating International Day of Happiness

We started our week with ‘International Day of Happiness’ and the sunshine came out to help us celebrate too! Our Little Forest Folk-ers are always finding joy in the simple things and this week has been no different, we have loved seeing our forest bloom with beautiful spring flowers and watching the sun shine through the trees after a rain shower.

The children always love building and creating in the forest, whether this is making a den which turns into a fire truck or turning a box into a castle, so this week we focused on being creative using recycled materials. Sticks turned into magical wands and fishing rods with the help of some wool. An old magazine and a plant pot turned into a bee hotel, and we even found time to create our very own homemade paper.

On Wednesday we kicked off our Ramadan celebrations in the forest with an array of exciting activities. One of our firm favourites was the moon sand tray where we brushed, scooped and dug through the sand to discover a litter of golden stars 🌟. With great determination, the Littlle Forest Folk-ers decided to line up the stars in numerical order as well as sing a beautiful rendition of ‘Twinkle Twinkle’.

We love making homemade playdough and what better way to make use of it this week than by building sculptures using blocks and sticks, the children got creative by using the playdough as the glue to connect their sticks, we built towers and beautiful butterflies.

We finished our wonderful week by sowing wildflower seeds and planting our tree saplings in our forest garden ready to watch them grow.

Another perfect week in the forest, have a great weekend everyone!
