Our Week in the Forest...
We have all been so excited to welcome back some of our old friends back into the forest! With friends reunited and a wonderful new woodland to show them our little adventurers trekked off each day with an electric enthusiasm.
On site each day the children get to show their creative side. This week they used teamwork and forward planning to make their own dens using fabrics, sticks, trees, planks and twine. Once a structure had been created, the children completed it with book shelves, a kitchenette and a sitting room and then proceeded to use it for some fabulous role play games.
Our Little Forest Folk-ers also got creative on a smaller scale as they engaged with various craft projects. They made magic wands using sticks, twine, leaves and tape and soon the Forest was full of people who had been turned into frogs, elephants and other animals big and small. Some of them created small world areas for fairies with mini ladders showing fantastic dexterity and an ability to see the finer details!
Transportation has continued to be a popular theme for our Little Forest Folk-ers and with the small trolley and the new wheel barrows, the children have been having lots of fun collecting resources around the forest and moving them about. They have collected rain water from the tarps and transported it to the mud kitchen in the barrows, sticks have been loaded up onto trolleys and taken to other children who are building a den or creating wands and other role-play props, and they have enjoyed collecting the resources up at the end of the day to help tidy up the forest!
At the end of each day we are asking ten children what they enjoyed in the forest and what they might like us to bring out next time. This week our Little Forest Folk-ers had been very keen for more climbing and balancing using the ropes. So we set up the slack line for children to traverse along and bounce! We created a spiderweb tree house so they could climb and role-play at the same time which was very popular!
After a fun packed half-term we are all looking forward to welcoming back our sessional children from Monday next week!
