Putney Heath - Recycled Paper!

We ended last week with some perfectly rainy weather which meant for some amazing muddy puddle adventures. The children enjoyed splashing and jumping in the water trying to get as muddy as they could and trying to make the biggest splash in the world!

We began the new week with some beautiful sunshine, and we were welcomed onto camp with a beautiful set up filled with lots of activities including, an array of different animal finger puppets. The children took no time in immersing themselves into storytelling and role play using these puppets and they enjoyed acting out their own stories, each adding parts to the story as they went along.

Further into the week the children took part in a very exciting activity which focussed on the importance of recycling. We had a thought and discussion about the amount of paper we use in the forest and thought about how we can reduce that. So, we came up with the idea to make our very own recycled paper, ready for us to use in the forest. The children tore up egg boxes, scrap paper and old newspapers and poured water over them before mashing them into a pulp. The children then pushed the pulp onto moulds and used a cloth to remove the excess water before leaving them to dry in the sun. We are so excited to be able to use the paper for some wonderful drawings and paintings.

Later in the week the children had a wonderful time adventuring in the sun, and they embarked on a picture orienteering adventure. They looked at pictures from across Putney Heath and tried to navigate their way to that location. The children had fun making the decisions as they led the way to the different locations.

We have had some amazing adventures and activities this week and we cannot wait for more sunshine and exploring next week.

We hope you all have a restful weekend!
