Springtime crafts!
This week the children have been on lots of exciting adventures and doing lots of Easter crafts!
On some days the children have ventured down to the pond to study the frogspawn that the frogs have been laying. The children spotted them bobbing about in the water and then had the chance to look in detail at the shape of each egg as we collected some very carefully in a jug. Some of the spawn hatched and the children saw tiny tadpoles swimming around eating the jelly from the eggs! After studying them the children were keen to make sure that we placed them back in their rightful habitat. The children have also continued searching for minibeasts using our special Putney Heath chart and have been finding beetles, ants, snails, slugs, ladybirds, butterflies, flat bodied millipedes, centipedes and lots of worms!
With spring on our doorstep and signs of new life, our little adventurers have been very busy this week creating all sorts of wonderful things to express this change. Some children have been making bunny planters with cress. Others have made their own Easter cards spraying paint onto egg templates. We have also been making natural material egg art, mini forest chicks using pinecones and feathers and some Easter biscuit making!
All of this wonderful creativity and hunting for creatures has engaged the children at the highest level this week and it has also brought them together in wonderful collaborative groups. They have been working together showing fantastic speaking and listening skills which allowed them to achieve their shared goals!
We hope that you all have a wonderful Easter break!
