This week, our All Around Us theme has taken a heartwarming turn as we prepare for Valentine’s Day! We’ve been focusing on the love and friendship in our lives and have been seriously getting our craft on, creating wonderful gifts and keepsakes to celebrate.
🎨 Patchwork Hearts
Our week began with patchwork heart crafting. The children used recycled cardboard hearts and modge-podged fabric scraps onto them, skilfully placing beads for decoration. Each heart became a unique and colourful work of art, full of love and creativity.
📚 Love Monsters
Inspired by the beloved book “The Colour Monster,” we made our very own Love Monsters. We had a heartfelt discussion about the people we love and how they show us love and friendship. Using their beading skills, the children carefully selected a variety of beads, either with their initials or beautiful decorative ones to thread together. Pom-poms and googly eyes brought their adorable Love Monster keyrings to life!
💖 Splodge Heart Painting
For our next project, we explored symmetry and patterns with splodge heart painting. The children painted half a heart and folded the paper in half to reveal beautiful patterns and shapes—each creation full of surprises and colour!
🌸 Repurposing Tie-Dye & Creating Bunting
Our beetroot tie-dye from last week didn’t quite take to the fabric the way we hoped, but that didn’t stop us! We repurposed the fabric and used fabric paint to create intricate designs. These colourful pieces will soon be transformed into nursery bunting, adding a personal touch to our space.
✍️ Valentine’s Day Cards
We wrapped up the week by making Valentine’s Day cards for our lovely families. The children wrote messages of love, sharing all the wonderful things their families do to make them feel special.
It’s been a week full of creativity, love, and gratitude. We can’t wait to see what adventures next week brings!
Have a lovely weekend and a Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️
