This week, our theme revolved around the exciting world of machinery, robotics, and construction. Using junk modelling materials, the children created an array of imaginative projects, including robots, articulated limbs, and monster trucks. We delved into the mechanics of moving components and explored how enhancements can transform models. The abundance of loose parts allowed our young inventors to scale up their creations into life-sized objects, providing endless opportunities for play and experimentation.
Our exploration extended to the human body, focusing on how it processes food. Inspired by a silver expanding tube, we used it to transport items and amplify our voices, drawing parallels to the intestines. The children were fascinated to learn how long the intestines are and enjoyed manipulating the tube into shapes that resembled this vital organ.
In addition to our robotics and body-focused activities, we spent time learning about plants, particularly a money tree. The children were intrigued by the belief that it brings good luck for new adventures. This led to thoughtful discussions and a deeper appreciation for plants and their significance.
We also hosted a bracelet-making workshop where the children practised their fine motor skills by threading personalised charms onto their jewellery. This activity was a delightful way for them to express their creativity and individuality while honing their dexterity.
As always, the forest provided a beautiful backdrop for our activities, and we made the most of the sunny weather to enjoy our outdoor adventures. It's been a week full of learning, creativity, and fun, and we are excited to see what the next week brings.
Have a wonderful weekend!
