Creative calmness
We ended a fantastic week with some amazing creative activities. Using a variety of different coloured ribbons, the children made their own rainbow ribbons, attaching the ribbons onto sticks. The children used these to support their role play that was based around educators and the rules of the forest. Our Little Forest Folk-ers reminded each other not to pass their rainbow ribbons.
We leapt into the new week filled with excitement and joy that our two camps can once again reunite and come back together. So many smiling faces as friends hugged and played together again. Although filled with excitement, there has been a real sense of calmness floating through this week with the children focusing on different creative activities which has been very refreshing.
As we headed further into the week the children got super creative, making their own cardboard cut-out walkie talkies with the help of an educator. The children enjoyed decorating them with their favourite colours before cutting them out and putting them on, to roleplay as educators! The cutting, sticking and painting did not stop there. Next the children were on a mission, a mission to create superhero masks for everyone! The children chose which superhero they wanted to be and with the help of an educator drew and coloured in the masks. Our Little Forest Folk-ers perfected their fine motor skills with some amazing cutting out and helped to tie the knots in the string that attached to the masks.
Later in the week the children engaged in some junk modelling and painting, and they were so imaginative to create a rubbish truck with all the unwanted scraps of paper and cardboard! After this, the children went on a big blackberry hunt with the educators. Once we were back at camp, the children all worked together to create a huge blackberry soup for all the educators to enjoy.
We have had such a creative week here in the forest and we hope you all have a restful weekend!
