Brilliant Bird Watching!
The children ended last week continuing to enjoy the pungent potion making using different herbs, food colouring and water to concoct some magical mixtures. This week both the children and the educators have loved the spring sunshine and we have delved into so many more exciting activities!
We began the week welcoming our new educator, Donna, into one of our bubbles and our Little Forest Folk-ers were amazing at making friends and they welcomed her with open arms! The children enjoyed some fantastic storytelling under the sun listening to one another as each child told their story. Clay sculptures, mud kitchen fun and superhero games were just some of the many activities the children engaged in to begin the week.
Further into the week the educators introduced some new bird identification cards and the children had amazing fun trying to spot each of the birds in and around the forest. Binoculars were on hand to support the bird watching and we were amazed to spot some beautiful green Parakeets eating their breakfast in the trees on the cricket pitch! We also introduced some new friends into the forest - a toy Robin, Great tit and a woodpecker that sings when you press a button. We played a game where the children needed to remember which song each bird sang, they did so well at this, and they loved the game.
We ended the week celebrating Earth day by creating a big natural structure of the Earth. The children used sticks, blossom, leaves and blue material to create the most wonderful Planet Earth. Our little adventurers learnt so much about Earth using maps and stories and really enjoyed talking about all the different places they come from around the world.
We have had the most wonderful week in the forest, and we wish you all a restful weekend!
