This week, our theme has been "All Around Us", and with the beautiful sunny weather and the morning frost melting away, we’ve fully embraced the magic of the forest. Our adventurers have been busy learning, creating, and exploring everything nature has to offer.
Magic Wand Creations
We started the week by gathering sticks to create our own magic wands. The children practiced their weaving skills, tying string and decorating their wands to make staffs of power, each one unique with intricate patterns. Armed with their magical creations, they enjoyed imaginative play across the forest!
Adventure Walks & Environmental Care
Our adventure walks took us deep into the forest to identify different species of trees and plants. We discussed ways we can protect and care for our environment while exploring seasonal fruits, herbs, and vegetables.
Forest Feast & Playdough Cooking
In the mud kitchen, our little chefs got creative with oranges, thyme, parsley, and beetroot, making their own playdough meals. They measured, counted, and dissected fruits to discover new smells and textures. Beetroot became an unexpected star of the week as we used it to make homemade dye. The children rolled and folded fabrics, soaking them in the beetroot dye to create beautiful tie-dyed masterpieces.
Nature-Inspired Art
We were challenged to paint without paint brushes! Our adventurers used pipettes, fingers, and leaves from the forest and mud kitchen to create unique works of art. It was a messy, sensory experience full of discovery and creativity!
Animal Masks & Imaginative Play
We finished the week by exploring animals in the forest and at home, creating animal masks with cutting and sticking activities. With their masks on, the children transformed into foxes, owls, and more, embarking on an imaginative journey through different habitats.
It’s been a magical week filled with exploration, creativity, and connection with the world around us.
