This week the children have been noticing all the changes in our environment; whether that be the construction going on during blue group's walk into the forest or the changes prompted by the weather. It has been wonderful how inspired the children have been by these changes, talking about whether they can see blue sky through the trees, commenting on the way the branches are moving in the wind, or wondering why we can feel the rain falling on our heads in some parts of the camp and not others. This has inspired our activities in the forest, leading us to go hunting for puddles and constructing on our camps.
We have also seen boats sailing; some pirates in our yellow camp, and some sailors and holidaymakers in our blue camp. We have had new dens go up for cheetahs and humans with new pet kittens and puppies made with sticks and twine! The children were using their numeracy skills by counting out how many bedrooms and beds they needed for their friends. One of the homes even had a television which the children were roleplaying displaying their amazing dramatic skills. We have been discovering who else our forest is home to, leading us to spend lots of time looking up to the treetops for birds and acrobatic squirrels jumping from tree to tree, and looking down close to the ground and under logs hunting for bugs. Some of the children have even been recording their findings by creating maps to show where they found the bugs on our camp!
We can't wait to discover what next week will bring and we hope you have a wonderful weekend!
